About Your Role
In this dynamic, crucial and customer facing role, your primary responsibility will be to establish a close partnership with customers to provide unwavering support and motivation in adhering to their personalized care plans. Beyond this, you will also be involved and participate in crafting these individualized care plans, which will involve conducting a thorough analysis of their lifestyle, meticulously documenting the framework within which these plans are developed.
It is imperative to understand that your role as a motivator requires a multifaceted approach, combining elements such as empathy, a genuine and heartfelt connection with people, strong family values, a readiness to extend yourself beyond the expected to aid others, a professional demeanor to discern appropriate boundaries, and a solid foundation in scientific and psychological principles derived from your education and/or expertise.
To ensure you are well-prepared and equipped for this impactful position, you will undergo extensive and detailed training sessions designed to impart you with the requisite skills and knowledge. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in refresher courses held at least three times a year, enabling you to stay abreast of the latest advancements and methodologies in customer motivation strategies and the creation of effective care plans.
Responsibilities:
As a HumLife360 Nudge Friend, a motivational counselor working with a person with type 2 diabetes, your responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following significant functions.

Providing education: Educating the individual about the basics of diabetes, including managing blood sugar levels, medication management, dietary considerations, and the importance of regular exercise.

Setting achievable goals: Working with the individual to set realistic and achievable goals related to blood sugar control, weight management, and overall health improvements.

Offering emotional support: Providing emotional support and encouragement to help the individual cope with the challenges of managing diabetes, such as feelings of frustration, anxiety, or hopelessness.

Motivating behavior change: Encouraging the individual to adopt healthy lifestyle habits, such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, proper medication adherence, and stress management techniques.

Monitoring progress: Tracking the individual's progress towards their goals and making adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.

Creating a support system: Connecting the individual with resources and support networks, such as diabetes support groups or mental health professionals, to help them stay motivated and engaged in their diabetes management. The individual customer also has the ability to nominate theory own support group comprising of their family and friends.

Celebrating achievements: Recognizing and celebrating the individual's accomplishments and milestones along their journey to better health.
Remember to always be empathetic, patient, and understanding in your approach to helping the person with type 2 diabetes stay motivated and committed to managing their condition effectively. It’s important to remember that managing type 2 diabetes is a lifelong journey. It can be challenging at times, but with the right support system and resources in place, it’s possible for anyone to live well with this condition. The key is to help the person with type 2 diabetes feel empowered and motivated to take control of their health. By providing them with the tools they need, you can help them manage their condition effectively and live a long, healthy life. Skills and Experience
A motivational counselor working with individuals managing Type 2 Diabetes must possess a diverse abilities and passion that includes counseling, health education, behavioral psychology, and motivational coaching.

Counseling: The counselor should have experience or be passionate about providing emotional support, active listening, and guidance to help individuals navigate the challenges associated with managing diabetes. They should be able to create a safe and supportive environment for clients to discuss their concerns and fears.

Awareness: The counselor should have experience or be passionate about educating individuals about the impact of lifestyle choices on their health and empower them to make informed decisions. Some knowledge of diabetes management, including blood sugar control, medication management, dietary considerations, and the importance of physical activity is preferred, but not mandatory.

Behavioral Psychology: The counselor should be having experience or be passionate about identifying barriers to behavior change, modify maladaptive behaviors, and promote healthier habits effectively. Understanding how behavior influences health outcomes and the factors that drive behavior change is important to this role.

Motivational Coaching: The counselor should have experience with or be passionate inspiring and motivating individuals to make positive changes in their lifestyle. By helping clients identify their intrinsic motivation and setting achievable goals, the counselor can support them in sustaining long-term behavior change.
Using a combination of the above, the motivational counselor can provide support to individuals managing Type 2 Diabetes, empowering them to take control of their health and well-being.

A bachelor's degree in a science-related field is required.

Additional certifications or education in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Psychology are preferred.

At least four years of experience is ideal; however, candidates with a strong service ethic, including recent graduates, are encouraged to apply.

Experience or knowledge in diabetes management is preferred.

Ability to provide counseling both via phone and in person.

Proficiency in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.

Ability to create and deliver clear presentations to groups, individuals, and clients.

Strong proficiency in MS Office, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, as well as web research and mobile device navigation.

Exceptional communication skills are required.

Fluency in English, Hindi, and Marathi is mandatory.

Must have access to a laptop, mobile phone, and reliable internet connection at home.
