Launched on 14th November 2024, World Diabetes Day

Harsh Mulik, the CEO and Founder of HumLife360, was fortunate to have a vigilant mother who noticed his symptoms of diabetes. Her persistence prompted him to undergo testing, which revealed he had Type 2 diabetes at the age of 53. The experience of adapting to a new lifestyle was challenging, and he often wished the diagnosis had come sooner. To assist others in similar situations, HumLife360 is dedicated to revolutionizing the detection and management of diabetes on a global scale, beginning with initiatives in India.

What is the Diabetes Lifestyle Risk Assessment Outreach Program (DLRAO)

Early detection plays a vital role in preventing serious complications associated with the condition, such as heart disease, kidney damage, vision impairment, and nerve issues. Detecting diabetes early is imperative as it allows for timely intervention, preventing severe complications such as heart disease, kidney damage, vision impairment, and nerve issues that can develop if the condition is left untreated. Timely identification enables individuals to adopt lifestyle modifications and treatment regimens to effectively manage their blood sugar levels, significantly enhancing their quality of life and extending their longevity. Moreover, improving the management of long-term complications related to Diabetes could result in healthcare savings exceeding $200 billion.

Benefits of early detection of Diabetes Type 2

Testing your blood sugar every 12 months, even if you're not diagnosed with diabetes, offers several health benefits:

1. Early Detection of Diabetes or Prediabetes:

Regular testing helps identify elevated blood sugar levels before symptoms arise. Prediabetes is often symptomless, and catching it early allows you to take action to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.

2. Monitoring Risk Factors:

Blood sugar testing gives insight into your overall metabolic health. Elevated blood sugar can be influenced by lifestyle, genetics, age, or weight. Tracking changes over time helps assess whether you’re at risk and if you should adjust your habits.

3. Preventing Complications:

Diabetes complications (like heart disease, kidney issues, and nerve damage) often develop gradually and can be severe. Early identification helps you and your healthcare provider take steps to manage blood sugar levels and prevent complications.

4. Insight Into Your Lifestyle:

Changes in diet, physical activity, stress, and sleep can impact blood sugar. Testing annually provides a snapshot of how well your body is handling glucose, encouraging proactive choices to support long-term health.

5. Personalized Health Planning:

If your blood sugar is elevated, you can work with a healthcare provider to create a plan to manage it through diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. Annual testing gives you data to make adjustments to protect your health.
